Rocks Roads & Reggae II is coming December 8-9, 2018. Registration is now open!

Atomik Carbon was born during mountain biking trips in the Blue Mountains of Jamaica, and now we’re bringing the island vibe to our backyard in Florida with our first weekend bikepacking adventure.

The Rocks, Roads and Reggae bikepacking ride/event will take place December 8 and 9, 2018. Jayson of Gravel Cyclist has again worked with us to develop the remote backcountry routes exploring the most scenic locations North Florida has to offer to build this 100-mile, two-day route, and we’re inviting you to join us for a weekend of two wheels and one love.

This is a fun, social ride—not a competition.

THIS YEAR’S EVENT IS A SPECIAL ONE

ALL proceeds from the event will be donated to the family of Shawn Smith. Shawn was one of our Brand Ambassadors that was tragically struck from behind while on a training ride in Gainesville, FL. He left behind his wife, Shandon, and teenage son, Brayden. Shawn was well known in the Florida Racing Community as a fierce competitor on the bike and an infectious, fun loving personality off the bike. He was loved by everyone that knew him and will be deeply missed. We really want to make this event one to remember, and look forward to seeing a lot of new faces as well as some from last years event.

Itinerary

We will leave Critter Creek Farm in Gainesville, FL, on Saturday, December 8, and set out to cover 50 miles on incredibly beautiful country roads and historic routes, including the first Federal Road in Florida that connected the capitol of Tallahassee with Jacksonville.

We will set up camp overnight at Oleno State Park. A local chef will prepare authentic Jamaican cuisine on site including jerk chicken, while live reggae will set the vibe. Breakfast will be provided in the morning before setting out on another 50-mile day of adventure concluding back in Gainesville.

Each day will be approximately 50 miles with two sag stops, one each day.

RECOMMENDED BIKE SETUP

We will be covering 100 miles on gravel roads, so anything you are comfortable on! Gravel/adventure bikes are probably best with minimum 32-millimeter tires, but cross-country mountain bikes are also suitable. “Run what you brung,” — it’s an adventure!

WHAT TO BRING

Your bike and camping gear (including toiletries, towel, etc.). If your bike isn’t set up for bikepacking, don’t worry, we can transport your gear to the campground for you. Anyone using a hammock must have tree straps. We will provide the food, brews and tunes.
